DESCRIPTION:Exposition permanente\n\n\nPint of science à Mons\n\n\n\n\nDécouvrez l’exposition permanente sur l’histoire du Mundaneum !  \n\n\n\n\nRéserver des billets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExposition  \n\n\n\npermanente \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1895\, la machine « Mundaneum » se met en route… \n\n\n\nÀ l’origine de ce projet humaniste et universaliste\, la conviction profonde que la paix dans le monde est possible grâce au classement et au partage des connaissances. \n\n\n\nDerrière ces idées incarnant une foi inébranlable dans le progrès et le savoir humain\, des hommes et des femmes au destin incroyable mais bien souvent oubliés : Paul Otlet\, reconnu comme l’un des pères d’Internet ; Henri La Fontaine\, prix Nobel de la Paix ; Léonie La Fontaine\, figure marquante du féminisme belge.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPendant des décennies\, le Mundaneum\, véritable laboratoire de réflexion sur le monde\, a abrité et incarné les rêves de visionnaires qui ont consacré leur vie entière au savoir\, aux sciences de l’information et de la documentation\, jusqu’ à imaginer un vrai moteur de recherche bien avant Internet. Ce projet novateur ouvrira la voie à bien des technologies qui font maintenant partie de notre quotidien à tous. \n\n\n\nQue reste-t-il aujourd’hui de cette aventure hors du commun ? DESCRIPTION:Pint of science à Mons\n\n\n\n\n#Fakeimages\, exposition créée par Kazerne Dossin à Malines\, encourage à déconstruire ces fausses représentations et à apprendre à réagir face aux fake news et aux discours de haine.  \n\n\n\n\nRéserver des billets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExposition  \n\n\n\ntemporaire \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChaque jour\, une multitude de messages et d’images nous parviennent à travers divers canaux tels que les médias sociaux\, la télévision et la presse écrite. Des fake news\, images mensongères et messages de propagande\, polluent notre flux d’information\, souvent de manière innocente\, mais aussi parfois avec des intentions plus insidieuses. Quels sont les mécanismes qui facilitent la transmission de ces messages\, et pourquoi sommes-nous si susceptibles de les recevoir? \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCes images stéréotypées\, ces théories du complot ou encore ces fake news sont parfois utilisées à l’encontre de communautés particulières. Pendant la Deuxième Guerre mondiale\, la propagande antisémite a ainsi conduit à un génocide sans précédent\, celui du peuple juif.  \n\n\n\nBasée sur la collection d’images antisémites d’Arthur Langerman\, survivant belge de la Shoah\, cette exposition entend relier passé et présent. Son objectif est de décoder et expliquer les mécanismes de propagande et des fausses images incitant les visiteurs à remettre en question les stéréotypes encore présents aujourd’hui. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n#Fakeimages\, exposition créée par Kazerne Dossin à Malines\, encourage à déconstruire ces fausses représentations et à apprendre à réagir face aux fake news et aux discours de haine.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nEngagé depuis plusieurs années dans la sensibilisation des jeunes aux théories du complot\, aux fake news et à la vérification des sources d’information\, le Mundaneum poursuit l’œuvre de ses fondateurs Paul Otlet\, Henri La Fontaine et Léonie La Fontaine\, de documenter le monde et de partager les connaissances dans un but de compréhension universelle. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nVéritable laboratoire de paix par la connaissance\, l’accueil de cette exposition par le Mundaneum se fait donc dans la continuité de son histoire et la pérennisation de ses valeurs universelles\, pacifistes et humanistes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n27.01.2024 > 12.01.2025\n\n\n\nL’exposition est prolongée jusqu’au 12 janvier 2025 !  \n\n\n\nAu Mundaneum \n\n\n\nPlus d’info : www.fakeimages.be \n\n\n\nEnseignants\, animateurs\, groupes\,.. : découvrez notre offre pédagogique

Established from 1910 to 1930 in the current “Auto World”\, the “Palais mondial – Mundaneum” was a World Center of Science and a Museum of knowledge. It was envisioned by its founders inspired by book sciences as the “Museum of the Future” that would ensure universal access to knowledge from around the world. \n\n\n\n80 years ago\, the Belgian Internet visionary Paul Otlet (1868-1944) passed away. Co-founder of the “Palais mondial – Mundaneum”\, now recognized as one of the early thinkers of the world wide web and modern information sciences\, its enterprise for knowledge fell into oblivion for more than half a century\, remembered only by a small coterie of library scientists and academic specialists. \n\n\n\nThat changed in June 2008\, when an investigation titled « The web that time forgot » was published in the New York Times. The article was written by a journalist named Alex Wright\, who came specifically from Brooklyn to discover the Mundaneum or what remained of this great Belgian cultural and scientific enterprise from the late 19th century. \n\n\n\nToday located in Mons\, the Mundaneum and its 6 km of archives are recognized as « Memory of the World Heritage » by UNESCO and « European Heritage Label » by European commission. \n\n\n\nThe talk will be facilitated by Laurent Hublet\, author of « Bruxelles mondiale\, from Paul Otlet to the Present Day » and Delphine Jenart\, project manager at KIKK. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFree registration mandatory \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nLunch foreseen – discussion in English.Access through the main entrance to the Royal Museums of Art and History located at 10\, Parc du Cinquantenaire\, Brussels \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAlex Wright (New-York\, USA) is a prominent figure in the field of User Experience design and research. He is known for his work as both an industry practitioner and historian of the networked ages. Wright has authored two books and more than 100 articles (NY Times\, The Atlantic\, Salon.com\, among others) that explore the intersection of technology\, culture\, and design\, including “Cataloging the world: Paul Otlet and the birth of the information age” (Oxford University Press\, 2014) and “Informatica: mastering information through the ages” (Cornell University Press\, 2023). His insights have influenced both practitioners and academics\, making him a respected voice in the tech community (SxSW\, O’Reilly\, Gartner Group conferences).
